Mimmi Boa, Miss Virtual World 2009

Miss Virtual World 2009 winner, Mimmi Boa’s walk across the stage marked the apex of a journey of healing and recovery that began for her years ago when her RL modeling career was cut short by a tragic hit and run accident. “OMG! I was astonished at first because I didn’t expect it,” Mimmi stated when describing her initial reaction to the judges’ decision. She continued:

“I was crying in front of my PC. I’m so happy and proud, and this victory means a lot to me … I know most of you maybe are thinking this is only a pixel world, but I’m really happy. This is a vindication for me … for my RL fate. I was a model in RL, and before one of the most important events of my career I had a terrible car crash. I spent almost two years in a wheel chair, and my career was destroyed. It was a nightmare, and I want to say that I’m in good health now; I walk, I run, I’m good, and am nice looking, but I couldn’t forget how I felt in those damned two years … and I was only 21 years old. So for me, SL and the modeling keeps my dream alive, and my dream comes true on December 6th.

“My personal quote is ‘beauty is a breathe … personality is forever,’ and despite the scars on my right cheek, I feel I’m more beautiful now than ever before.”

Mimmi pledged, “I will do my best to keep high the flag of this organization, and I will be present whenever the organization needs me, and I will be available for charity events and for all good causes. I really want to be a very nice and elegant ‘queen’ but also the Mimmi of before at the same time. I won’t allow this crown to change me.”

Frolic Mills said, “Mimmi is a very hard working lady who truly enjoys working and helping others. I think she will be a fantastic ambassador for the Miss Virtual World organization.  Miss Virtual World was the combined effort of many talented artists, and even though there were some technical difficulties, the show was a total success.”

Harmonious and flawless definitely described Miss Virtual World 2009 Mimmi Boa that evening. Mimmi wore an extravagant gown designed by Mami Jewell and Edo Tone of Styles of Edo. The incredibly talented Edo and Mami transformed their pearl gown into this stunning and elegant silk masterpiece with a texture representing Michelangelo’s “Universal Judgment” from the Sistine Chapel. Mimmi explained the design of her gown, saying, “The country gown is incredible, realized with the texture of the “Universal Judgment” by Michelangelo. I choose it to represent Italy because my country, for me, is art, beauty, and history!” Mimmi’s hair was a custom-toned version of Sky Everett’s “Rivenspire.” Mimmi commented on her hair choice, saying, “the iconography of Italia, when it is represented as woman, wears a gold crown so I choose a very big hairstyle with a gold crown and jewels. Italy is a masterpiece, and I wanted to do my best in representing my country in the very best way possible.”

Mimmi’s evening gown choice was ALB Mata Red, customized with ALB Hillary Corset Lipstick, by AnaLeeb Balut. Described in the ceremony as “a symphony of pink, salmon, and oranges for this incredible gown created in silk, lace and tulle.” Composed of a pink silk corset with laced open back, covered by two panels in salmon hued tulle. It’s heavy silk skirt is made in three different tones of orange accompanied by some additional transparent tulle draping. This breathtaking ensemble was completed with a pair of laced pink and salmon tulle gloves and a simple pony tail hair style. When quizzed about her hair choice, Mimmi smiled and relied, “Sometimes Elegance means to avoid excess.”

What is a Miss Virtual World, aside from that “winning personality?” She is a lady who takes the best SL has to offer and creates an elegant and stylish appearance. In that sense, it could be argued that there were eighteen Miss Virtual Worlds on the stage that evening, but unfortunately there can only be one. Miss Mimmi Boa will reign as Miss Virtual World until next December, and carries a responsibility to further define that role. When discussing his vision for Miss Virtual World, Frolic Mills said, “I have always thought of Miss Virtual World as a philanthropist – a girl who really wants to help others and yet be quite glamorous about it. We will be working very hard to achieve this goal this year.” There can be no doubt, given her past involvement with charities such as Make a Wish, Relay For Life, and the “Maseno project,” that Mimmi will not disappoint.
